About the Opportunity
We are looking for a specialty coffee enthusiast who is interested in working as an integral member of a dynamic, fast-paced, specialty coffee roasting team. The ideal candidate is fun, hard-working, detail-oriented, open-minded, customer focused, and able to confidently work within an established framework with minimal supervision. This position involves working in our coffee production department, packaging specialty coffee for a variety of customer needs. Full and part-time opportunities will be considered.
Job Duties
- Daily fulfillment of specialty coffee orders. Follow existing protocols to ensure proper labeling, blending, grinding, flavoring, and packaging of specialty coffees to complete customer orders within guaranteed lead times.
- Operate various types of coffee packaging equipment including grinders, direct heat sealers, weigh/fill and form/fill/seal machines.
- Daily cleaning of roasting and packaging equipment and work areas to comply with GMP and Food Safety Plan. (Dusting, washing, sweeping, mopping, etc.)
- Accountability includes weekly, monthly, and yearly inventory tracking of production inventory and supplies.
- Conduct routine, scheduled maintenance of coffee roasting, grinding and packaging equipment.
- Operate walk behind forklift and standard pallet movers to unload coffee shipments from trailers and organize coffee in pallet racks.
- Assist with various Shipping & Receiving tasks, warehouse tasks, building maintenance, and brewing equipment cleaning/maintenance, as well as other tasks as assigned.

- Daily starting of coffee roasters
- Loading green coffee into roasters
- Select the right roasting profile and start the roasting process, monitoring the roast process and dropping the roast at the correct point.
- Unload the roasted coffee from the roasters and move to blending and packaging.
- Ensure correct data is loaded into the roast logs and onto the coffee tags.
- Assist with routine roaster maintenance.

Physical Requirements
- Heavy lifting and repetitive motions. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds, unassisted and repetitively during a normal daily shift.
- Standing and walking. Position requires long periods of standing and walking on concrete surfaces.
- Climbing. Ladders, stepladders, and trailer steps. Ability to ascend and descend safely while balancing a load.
- Bending. Ability to bend at the waist, repeatedly, to retrieve scoops of coffee and other supplies.
- Hearing. Ability to distinguish various mechanical sounds and receive verbal information in a moderately noisy environment.
- Speaking. Ability to verbally communicate and relay information in a moderately noisy environment.
- Vision. Ability to distinguish between color shades of roasted coffee. Acuity to operate machinery, forklifts, and hand tools.
- Attention span. Ability to pay close attention to multiple tasks at detail level for long durations.
Experience/Education
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Experience working in beverage or food production industry. (Preferred)
- Basic math skills. Percentages and ability to convert between various measurement units.
- Computer skills. Proficient in MS Outlook, Excel, Word, and basic computer navigation. (Experience with FedEx Ship Manager, MAS and MS Access preferred)
Workplace Conditions
- Temperature. Employees will be subject to temperature fluctuations. The workplace is climate controlled, but the nature of the job requires standing and climbing in close proximity to heated machinery. Temperatures in excess of 100 degrees Fahrenheit are common.
- Environmental. Exposure to significant amounts of dust, burlap/jute, and coffee chaff. Dust masks, respirators, and eye protection are provided.
- Noise. Substantial noise is associated with machinery to the extent that loud speech levels and possibly shouting is required for verbal communication. Hearing protection is provided for certain tasks.
- Hazards. The workplace contains a variety of hot equipment, machinery and ducting, fast-moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, ladders, heavy moving machinery (forklift), and over-head storage.
Compensation & Benefits (90 day probationary period)
- $16-18/hour DOE
